Václav Havel Human Rights Prize 2016

Nadia Murad Yazidi Activist who survived the massacre of her family and sexual slavery at the hands of Islamic State jihadists. On December 16, 2015 she gave a testimony at the UN Security Council on attacks against Yazidis intended to bring about their genocide and called on the UN to protech them and stop genocide and sexual terrorism. In 2018, she was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. She founded Nadia's Initiative with the goal of creating a world where women can live in peace and communities that have experienced trauma and suffering are supported and revitalised.
