Václav Havel: The Garden Party. A stage reading by students from the Department of Dramatic Theatre at DAMU
In December we marked the 60th anniversary of the world premiere of Václav Havel's debut play, The Garden Party. Its hero, Hugo Pludek, is not so different from many of today's young people. Intelligent, but in a vague, sort of generic way and without a clear goal or desire to fight for anything. The stage reading maps his moves on the career chessboard, one by one, and his ascent: smooth, discreet and essentially a matter of indifference to him.
