Resistant or Toothless? Democracy Versus Populism in Central Europe

A panel discussion featuring prominent personalities ready to provide educated insight into the current political situation in the Czech Republic, Germany and Austria. They will present an analysis of the situation in their respective countries in the context of Europe-wide challenges, and offer views on how populism and anti-system parties affect political stability, public trust and the future of (Central) European cooperation. This is a unique opportunity to meet people who are shaping political developments in our region, and to learn more about what these trends mean for us all. The gathering is being held in connection with the presentation of a new publication, Odolná střední Evropa. Cesta k bezpečné budoucnosti (Resistant Central Europe: The Path to a Secure Future).
Guests: Marek Ženíšek, Czech Minister for Science, Research and Innovation and director of the TOPAZ think tank; Wolfgang Sobotka, representative of the Political Academy of the Austrian People's Party (ÖVP); Peter Hefele, Political Director of the Wilfried Martens Centre for European Studies in Brussels; and Ladislav Cabada, Vice Rector of Metropolitan University Prague.
