The Garden Party: Student Finale

A film made for the 60th anniversary of The Garden Party recreates the atmosphere of the Divadla Na zábradlí/Theatre on the Balustrade, where the play premiered in 1963, in the recollections of those who worked on the production. At the same time, the documentary also shows how The Garden Party is perceived by today’s students at DAMU drama school, who have staged the play twice this year, reimagining it in their own way. What unites the two generations, and what divides them? Does Václav Havel as a playwright still have something to say today? Or has The Garden Party completely lost its lustre?
