We are looking for a colleague to help communicate the activities of the Václav Havel Library to the public, media, partners, visitors, and our community of supporters.
We are seeking someone with excellent writing skills, editorial experience, and a genuine interest in topics connected to Václav Havel’s legacy—culture, civil society, democracy, human rights, education, modern history, and thoughtful public discourse.

Key Responsibilities
- Managing the Library’s social media channels, particularly YouTube, X/Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook.
- Creating and publishing content related to events, anniversaries, publications, projects, and other Library activities.
- Copywriting: writing engaging captions and social media content.
- Community management and audience engagement.
- Editing and updating the Library’s website, including work with Czech content and selected English-language content.
- Preparing graphic materials and creative assets.
- Monitoring media coverage and tracking media outputs.
- Providing communication support, as needed, to the Friends of the Václav Havel Library Circle and the Havel Channel project.
- Contributing to the development and implementation of the Library’s PR strategy.
- Drafting and editing press releases, news updates, announcements, and media materials.
- Editing printed and digital monthly programmes.
- Promoting Library events to media outlets, information platforms, and relevant partners.
Who We Are Looking For
We are looking for someone who:
- Has experience in PR, communications, editorial work, social media management, or content marketing.
- Is an excellent writer in Czech with a strong sense of language, tone, and context.
- Can produce a variety of communication formats, including press releases, website articles, invitations, programme descriptions, and social media posts.
- Is familiar with the cultural, civic, media, or public affairs environment.
- Understands the differences between communication for media, websites, social media, and print publications.
- Is independent, detail-oriented, reliable, and able to meet deadlines.
- Can manage multiple projects simultaneously and organize their work effectively.
- Has practical experience with social media platforms and basic content management tools.
- Is willing to attend selected Library events when needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a cultural, educational, non-profit, media, or public institution.
- Experience promoting cultural or public events.
- Media contacts or experience working with journalists.
- Experience with website content management systems (CMS).
- Experience with newsletters, email campaigns, or event invitations.
- Basic knowledge of tools such as Canva.
- English proficiency sufficient for working with source materials, drafting short texts, and performing basic language checks.

The Václav Havel Library is looking for a colleague to help develop, curate, and deliver our programme of public events. We are seeking someone with a strong sense for relevant topics, the ability to think conceptually, excellent organizational skills, and the capacity to take an event from the initial idea through to successful execution.
This position is ideal for someone interested in culture, literature, public debate, civil society, democracy, modern history, and the legacy of Václav Havel.

Key Responsibilities
- Planning and organizing the Library’s programme of events, particularly literary, cultural, and discussion-based events.
- Contributing to programme development and proposing new themes and formats.
- Designing concepts for selected events and programme series.
- Identifying, approaching, and coordinating speakers, authors, moderators, and other participants.
- Managing guest bookings and coordinating all practical arrangements related to their participation.
- Preparing event scripts, programme descriptions, annotations, and supporting materials.
- Conducting research and background preparation for programme topics.
- Managing event production and coordinating activities with internal colleagues and external partners.
- Supporting the promotion of events, including preparing content for the website, newsletters, and social media channels.
- Assisting with the rental of the Library’s event spaces for private and partner events.
- Communicating with prospective clients, coordinating bookings, and handling basic organizational requirements related to venue hire.
Who We Are Looking For

- Has experience producing cultural, literary, educational, or public events.
- Is able to think curatorially and develop engaging, relevant programme concepts.
- Has a strong understanding of cultural, literary, civic, or public affairs topics.
- Is comfortable identifying and approaching interesting speakers and guests.
- Can manage schedules, logistics, communication, and multiple projects simultaneously.
- Is capable of preparing event scripts, programme annotations, research materials, and moderator briefings.
- Writes clearly, professionally, and with a strong sense of style.
- Is independent, detail-oriented, reliable, and highly organized.
- Has excellent interpersonal skills and can communicate effectively with guests, partners, visitors, and colleagues.
- Is willing to attend selected evening events as part of the role.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in a cultural, educational, non-profit, or public institution.
- Experience curating literary, discussion, or cultural programmes.
- Professional contacts within cultural, literary, academic, or media circles.
- Experience promoting events through social media.
- Basic familiarity with website content management systems (CMS).
- English language skills sufficient for communicating with guests and working with programme materials.
- Experience with venue rental management or organizing private and partner events.
